Scion Racing Adds Fourth Driver To Its Team
At NHRA Las Vegas Sport Compact Nationals
July 11, 2006 – Torrance, CA - Scion Racing, now in its second year
on the NHRA Sport Compact Class circuit, has announced the addition
of veteran racer Kenny Tran to its talented team of drivers. Tran
will make his debut in a Q – Nitto Scion tC at the NHRA Las Vegas
Sport Compact Nationals, July 14-15, in the Hot Rod Class.
Tran began his professional racing career in 1997 and went on to
compete in the NHRA Sport Compact and NOPI Race Wars series. Tran
finished third in the Hot Rod point standings for the fourth time in
his career in 2005.
The Q – Nitto tC is a methanol-powered race-modified 2.4-liter
3RZFE Garrett / Precision turbocharged Toyota engine expected to
produce over 1,100 horsepower. Tran's Hot Rod Scion racer features
Precision – Garrett GT42R ball bearing turbo with full race
manifold, a Peterson mechanical pump with eight 1600 cc precision
injectors, Precision liquid-air intercooler, Tin Works manifold,
Accufab throttle body, MoTeC M800 and ADL engine management systems,
custom Brink suspensions with Strange shocks and carbon brakes, and
Xtrac sequential gear box. The car will burn up the track on Nitto
Drag Slicks 28 x 10.5 x 15 tires and American Racing TrakStar Lite
wheels.
Tran will be joined in Las Vegas by his fellow Scion Racing
drivers, including Christian Rado, in WORLD Racing's Pro FWD tC;
Leslie Durst, in Horizon Motorsports' All-Motor tC; and defending
NHRA Sport Compact Class champion Brad Personett, in Titan
Motorsports' Pro RWD/Pro Compact tC.
